What is a second citizenship?

A second citizenship means legally obtaining a passport of another country besides your original one. This gives you the rights to live and work in the chosen country on the same rights as a citizen, as well as enjoy travelling benefits and opportunities for education and business development. Also, second citizenship can serve to protect your assets from political or economic instability in your country of residence.

What is the difference between dual and second citizenship?

Dual citizenship means being a citizen of two countries at the same time, with both countries recognizing you as a citizen.

Second citizenship refers to gaining citizenship in another country besides your original one, which may not always be recognized as dual citizenship. Some countries do not allow dual citizenship for its citizens, so in some cases you must renounce your original citizenship to obtain another one.

Do I need to reside in the country of the citizenship obtained?

No, obtaining a second passport does not mean you are required to live in that country, unless it is explicitly stated as part of the terms under which you acquired the citizenship.

Do I need to pay taxes in the chosen country?
